Farrah Lindsay Solano, 33

Farrah Lindsay Solano, a 33-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Sunday, July 15, in the 2800 block of Olive Street in Walnut Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Correction: An earlier version of this post, based on information from the coroner's office, identified the victim as Sarrah Solano.]

Julio Ramon Solano and his estranged wife, Farrah Solano, were believed to have been arguing over the custody of their 6-year-old and 11-year-old about 8 p.m. when he allegedly shot her, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Tony Moore.

Farrah Solano was shot in the chest, Moore said. She was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The two children were home at the time but were not hurt, Moore said.

Julio Ramon Solano then fled the scene but returned shortly before 3 a.m., when he was arrested by homicide detectives, Moore said. He was taken to the sheriff's Century Station for booking on suspicion of murder.

It wasn't clear if Julio Ramon Solano, a 34-year-old man, returned to turn himself in, Moore said.

"We don't know why he came back," he said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services will take custody of the children.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact the sheriff?s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
